Liberals and Conservatives a like please answer.?

This has nothing to do with your poltical party lines please. I want to know if you would burn our nations flag?

If you indicated that you felt it was very wrong, and the insert below is what you were told back in reply, how would feel?
Please read...even though this question will probably be removed.

"It's sad that you hate America so much that you want to trash the Constitutional principles that this country was founded upon. It's shameful that you want our country to act no better than the enemies we claim to fight -- kidnapping people and holding them based solely on the fact that we don't like them.
>
> But, I've noticed that people like you don't really care about the law, or the Constitution -- you just want to get your way, and are willing to use any means to achieve that. Congratulations -- that' makes you no better than any other fanatic."

and all because I said burning the flag was oh so wrong..

It is typical that the people who think flag burning is OK and it's free speech are the ones who are so quick to also jump on the band wagon and deny other people's rights to free speech.
For instance, wanting to charge a minister with a hate crime for preaching what the bible says is wrong with homosexuality is that God condemns it. That suddenly isn't free speech but instead is a HATE SPEECH which they definitely feel should be illegal.
Ironic isn't it?

Piece of cloth, who cares?
you may not like flag burning but It's protected by the first amendment, and my love of the first amendment trumps the distaste of flag burning to me anyday.
i wouldn't burn the flag, but it is protected by the constitution. the reply you post should be directed to those that approve indefinite detention and torture. that brings us to the level of the enemy.
The flag, although a piece of cloth, represents the hopes and dreams of those that founded this nation. It represents our history and culture, of all that our nation has endured since its inception. To burn the flag is to insult these principles and what America stands for.

Be that as it may, it should not be illegal, as it is a form of free speech. However, don't expect to be held in high regards if caught burning a flag. It may not be illegal, but you will gain the ire of many a citizen.

A conservative.
The solution to flag burning is so simple, I don't know why someone hasn't thought of it before. Flag burning is protected under "Free Speech", so says the Supreme Court. "Free Speech" should also protect those who stuff the burning flag down the pants of the one who set it alight.
The people who gave that response as well as the people that responded right above me are all wrong because you never advocated signing it into law. You simply thought it was VERY wrong as I and many other Americans believe.

Now I may feel that infidelity or homosexuality is wrong, but that doesnt mean I want to sign punishments for those behaviors into law.
The Constitution does protect our right to register our dissent in any non-harmful way we choose.

People who burn the flag can be cited for an unlawful fire in many localities. One place started charging them with unlawful burning of rubbish, but then they had to go to court and characterize the flag as rubbish, which also didn't go over so well.

Those who advocate violence as "speech" against those who burn flags haven't a clue what the Constitution means or why we should uphold and defend it. The facts are that flag-burning incidents in the US (reported) went up 33% last year, from three incidents the previous year, to four last year.

Now here's something I've noticed having to do with desecration of the flag, and it went on a lot, especially right after 9/11. I'm talking about the people who put two (or four) little teeny flagpoles on their cars and drove around with little (made in China) plastic flags flapping all over the place. I have seen these flags lying in the middle of the road, in the bushes, in the center divider, all covered in motor oil, broken glass, and garbage. Is that respectful? Dozens of times I've seen these flags as litter on the ground beside the roads in my county, and I've never yet seen a protester burn one.

Make of that what you will..

I, too, choose the Constitution over the flag if it comes down to it.
i would never burn our flag.no matter what
