Infraction violation in CA?
I got a infraction violation about 3 weeks ago for not having my ID accompanied with my Bus pass, and I can safely guess that I'm not getting a courtesy notice since its been over 21 days, thus I have to appear in court, does anybody know how this ordeal works? Do you just go to court pledge guilty and just pay?? Is it anything I should be worrying about since i didn't get a courtesy notice?

I assume that you were using either a student pass or a senior citizen pass without proof of being a student or senior citizen (or something comparable) in violation of Penal Code section 640, subdivision (b)(11)(A). However, you were supposed to be given 72 hours to present the ID, which voids the citation. (PC 640(b)(11)(B).) If you were not told of this, and you have ID, I would explain that to the court. If I were the judge, I would dismiss the citation. Of course, if you were not really entitled to use the discount pass, I would not be kind.
The maximum sentence for this is a fine of $250. With assessments that can work out to around $800.
If my assumption is wrong, please post additional information.
