How do I nail this scam artist - illegal bootlegger?
I bought some DVD's of the old MTV show SIFL and OLLIE from someone on ebay. I revieved them and they were burned copies and they skip. I told him I want a refund. He said "True fans of the show know that these DVDs were never released. Do your research." I told him that was the stupidist response I have ever heard and that if I dont get my money back, I'm contacting MTV and the shows creators.
How exactly do I contact MTV or the shows creators and tell them about this?
Answers:
eBay doesn't allow pirated copies to be sold there. Contact them and let them know that this person is selling pirated copies.
Good luck.
Contact their corporate headquarters.
Try to get your money back through e-bay disputes.

The first thing you need to do is contact ebay. They will investigate and most likely remove his account on ebay (I am part of an internet-based computer game company and we have to do this all the time). However, most likely he will just open a new one because I don't think they block account recreation by IP. As to contacting MTV, the likelihood that they will actually take action on a small scam artist like this is doubtful, but you should send all the info to them using the contact info found on this page: http://www.mtv.com/sitewide/mtvinfo/copy...
Also, if you paid using Paypal, you should file a complaint through them. You may be able to get your money back this way.
Before you go to MTV you should go back to Ebay. They have a fraud department.Aside from their fraud department I am certain that MTV and the shows creators would be VERY interested since "THESE DVD'S WERE NEVER RELEASED",and they are not getting 'royalties' from this character selling to the public.Burning a DVD for ones personal use is quite different from advertising for sale DVD's that were never released.
