My father recently passed away and my parents divorced i am his only decendent and he left no will?

I have to file probate but I have no will. how many days do have before I have to file. I am a college student and have no money. What steps should I take to aquire the estate and any belongings without spending money on a attorney. Please Help?

Answers:
Highly unlikely. You need to file for an administration. If you can prove your parents divorced and that you are the decedent's only child, then you are the sole heir. However, it costs money, and I, for one, would not sign up an estate matter for a person who can't pay the cost of the heirship investigation (which is at least $500, and more likely $1500).

I am not going to even begin to answer until you tell us in what Country/state you live.

And while you're at it, you need to at least give us a small list of assets (value) and an idea of when your parents were divorced.
