Busking question?
Is it against the law or will there be problems if someone busks, by bringing a ghetto blaster into the city centre and
singing along to it with a microphone??
Does it constitute noise pollution?
Answers:
You will need to speak to the local council and find out what their policy is. Technically you will be providing ' entertainment' ( questionable I know but that's what the law will define it as ) . That is classed as 'regulated entertainment' and therefore treated as ' a licensable activity ' under the Licensing Act 2003 which came into force in November 2005. You will therefore need to have ' a premises licence' ( even though you will be in the open air ! ) or 'a temporary event permit' which is issued by the local council licensing office, after public consultation, paying a fee, etc etc. yes I know it's red tape but I didn't make the law, this was part of Tony Blair's licensing reforms which also altered the various alcohol drinking laws. Phew .. having explained all that some authorities will use this law to the full to stop you because they don't want buskers, some will be more tolerant and perhaps turn a blind eye, some actually encourage street entertainment and hold auditions.
Are there nice Debt Collectors.
freedom of speech!
you wouldn't get anything off me for that. sounds like you just want to do a bit of karaoke
It is against the law if:
1. You do it when people are trying to get some sleep
2. Obstructing traffic or pedestrians
3. If your singing is offensive
3. If you are a lousy singer
Apart from that I don't see why not
It constitues a bloody nuisance !
Busking is "ok" where it is legal, but you need to have appropriate permissions, and NOT to break public performance copyright on other peoples music.
seen similar done before, buskers are a very pleasent site when out shopping and their as some real good ones.
all i know is i and most other people hate buskers, if nobody asked them to play or sing then they can shut the hell up and bugger off. they dont provide a service, i detest all street performers and beggars and unlincensed street vendors "5 lightoirs fer a poond, socks 3 pars fer a poond" oh **** the hell up and piss off scumbags.
