How can I sell a patent that I have?
I have a patent and would like to sell it, can anyone guide me through the process of selling it? What kind of lawyer should I look for? What is generally accepted % rate for the lawyer, I cannot afford to pay the lawyer with $ but I will give him a % from the sale of the patent.
Answers:
You sell a patent like you'd sell anything else: first you find a buyer.
The contract itself can be simple, and any attorney should be able to handle it.
Paying an attorney a percentage rather than a flat fee for this type of contract is a great deal for the attorney, not so good for the seller.unless the attorney's responsibilities include finding the buyer, too.
you need a patent lawyer call him and tell him all the details and then he will do what is best for you and your patent or he will give you advice on your situation
Yes, if you own the patent you can either sell it outright or license it.
For the sale, any contract or transactional attorney would handle the case -- sales are generally pretty simple, since it's just a contract. If you wanted to work out a contingency fee, the rate would be negotiated with the attorney, but I would expect somewhere in the 10% to 20% would be the most one would charge -- one contract is not that complicated.
