Employment law question...not being paid!?
I'm trying to save up and I got a second job at a retail store at the end of June. We're suppose to get our check every other week. The first couple weeks, they told me they were having trouble processing my paperwork and they couldn't get me my check, but it would be cominig soon. I was patient about it.
Now, over a month later I still don't have it! I've complained, but no one does anything! "oh, we should be getting it soon..." What are my legal rights? What can I do?
Answers:
Time ta get on the phone, or go in person to get your check....relying on somebody else, aint workin'.....
start climbing over everybody, and make them look bad, while doing it..
See a lawyer, no one on freelawanswer.com can help you.
Either quit the job and sue the company or be more patient. Those are your only 2 options. Just be very sure thatyou're keeping a record of your hours worked.
contact your state labor commission.
Be sure to keep track off when you worked. Did you fill out a time sheet? Did you punch a clock? You might consider taking a new job that will pay you!
There is a government agency to report this situation to. Could be your State's Department of Labor or the Federal Department of Labor. I doubt it is, but if you are intentionally being ripped off, you should also report it to the police.
Its easy for me to say, be patient. I have not been waiting a month for my pay check. Good luck!
