How come people say lethal injection is the most humane way to execute some one?

Think about it.I took shots before in my arms so woundt that hurt in the begining and if used wrong he/she might suffer when perlized.A bullet in the back of your head is more humane than any other execution in my opinion. In some states like Utah and Nevada they use fire squad but they shoot them in the chest area why cant they do it back in the head.Guilotine is more humane but very mesy. Also hanging the long drop.I wanted to ask this Why is the US so creative in capital punishmen like electric chair, gas chamber, and lethal injection.Producing chemicals and electricity is expensive to produce. Why cant they make it cheap and humane?

Answers:
The only humane execution would be walking up on the condemned with a big smile on your face as you tell them they are being released and as you are shaking their hand someone comes up and puts a bullet in the back of their head.
In other words there is nothing humane in an execution that someone has to sit and wait for. I don't care how quick and painless the actual execution is. It's the waiting with the knowledge of what time you are going to die that is the most inhumane

Nevada and Utah, today, do not use the firing squad.

Also, I don't believe executing anyone is in anyway humane.
because, well there s too much guilt involved these days, mostly because of the mass media such as TV who preaches false humanism, thats based on fear, god's wrath etc. which in turn reflects the underdeveloped views of those who pay for it all, the "moguls". I think thats basically the reason. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much problem punishing those who deserve it.
On the other hand, punishment by death might be looked at more as a salvation by many. Just think about it. When you have nothing to lose, even the gift of life might seem as a curse. There s much worse and effective punishments then death.
They should make it feared and much more painful. Sissy execution styles like fall asleep injection is not putting fear into potential killers! They should be displayed in a public square and torture for about 3 days before dying! Cut out an eye, finger, foot or what ever. I don't care drop them into a volcano for a burning show!! This will make people think twice before killing someone for something!
You're saying its cheaper to use a pistol than to crank up the voltage a bit? The people that are being executed don't deserve humane treatment. They've probably murdered someone. Do you think they were humane when they took another's life? I highly doubt it. Even if they did, 99% of them don't have that right. We could just snap there necks, that would be cheap right?
I agree, back of the head the most humane
I don't think that people really look at it that way, but then again If you were the one being shot, how would you like it?
Well compared to the other traditional methods of executing a condemned prisoner lethal injection is more humane.

1. Cyanide gas isn't instant
2. Electrocution isn't as reliable as one might think
3. Hanging can result in strangulation instead of a broken neck
4. Firing Squad is quick but not necessarily instantaneous unless you use a brain shot.

At least with injection there is minimal discomfort from the needle and once the barbiturates take effect you are unconscious.

We could go to decapitation which is quick and as far as we know painless since no one has ever complained about it.
A bullet to the back of the head is both messy, and doesn't necessarily kill the person.

Of course, with the problems they've been having with lethal injection, you could argue that it wasn't always lethal either.

However, the "humane" part about it is that the person actually dies in their sleep. That is, the first drug shuts down conciousness, while the remaining drugs stop the heart - this would be quite painful if you were awake.

Personally, I think its all balderdash - there is no evidence that capital punishment actually discourages crime and there is beginning to be a body of evidence that says that cultures that perform capital punishment ENCOURAGE the crimes that it penalizes.

Better to spend the money on rehabilitation, drug programs, etc.

Moreover, at least in the US instantiation of it, it is far more expensive to kill someone (with all the legal implications) than keep him in jail for the rest of his life.

"An eye for an eye" doesn't work. Its time to try something else.
It leaves the least mess. Witnesses can't see any signs of pain because they paralyze/knock out the guy first. I agree with you: a sledgehammer to the skull would work perfectly (hammer can be reused, bullets have to be replaced).
For all the bleeding hearts out there - some people are not rehabilitatable.

If we're going to mete out the death sentence - discomfort at time of death is the least of our worries. Electricity isn't that expensive when compared to running an air conditioner for the same amount of time, gas chamber isn't that expensive - a firing squad would cost infinitely more in terms of manpower.

And as for the US being creative - we're not the ones that came up with the crucifix, hanging, burning at the stake, drawing and quartering (eww!?), boiling in oil, stoning to death, the guillotine or the gas chamber (Napoleon was the first on that one). We just try and do it as painlessly as possible. (At least we don't bury folks in the sand out in the desert so the ants can eat them before they die of dehydration and exposure, 'eh?)

China also uses lethal injection.

I would prefer lethal injection - but I'd rather have a shot in the arm first, then have'em hose me up for the kill - pass out first.
There's bound to be some kind of pain any way you look at it. In any case, only a soldier has the right to a firing squad. And why do they shoot him in the chest instead of the head? It's a man thing and it's just more honourable. Soldiers prefer to see death coming but would rather not risk having their faces disfigured, so that's the tradition in the military. And although I've never shot anybody, I've participated in pig slaughters (my relatives and their neighbors own small farms) and I've seen pigs get shot squarely in the head and keep kicking long before they expire. A pig is anatomically very similar to a human, so I'm pretty sure a head shot to a person wouldn't always guarantee instant death either. Even the guillotine doesnt always cause instant death - based on stories I've read about the French revolution, a person's head can sometimes remain conscious for up to 15-30 seconds before passing out due to the massive drop in blood pressure.

Actually, if they're so worried about being humane when putting a convict to death, I wonder why don't they simply first put him under general anesthesia just like they do for a hospital patient? Then again, I'm not a doctor.
