Is the legal age to purchase cigarettes in Westchester County, New York going to change to 19?
My friend says that her uncles a cop and thats it's 19 to now legally smoke. But she never said where. Are they really gonna change the smoking age to 19 instead of keeping it to 18?
Answers:
No the state makes that law not just a county. I think your friend was busting you ba^ls
not sure. ask a store clerk.
buddy
whoo no they should change it to 21
Not to my knowledge. This would set the non smoking movement back about ten years.
The legal smoking age is 18, under the state's Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act. Westchester County Department of Health enforces the law and they are more aggressive than other counties, using undercover sting operations, etc.
Westchester was also one of the first counties in the nation to ban smoking in bars, restaurants and public areas. But so far, if you can find a place to smoke, you must be 18 to do it legally.
I hope you haven't already developed this habit!
