Is it legal to purchase voting rights in a non-profit organization?

Would it be considered legal for a non-profit to basically sell "votes" on their board if the votes do not mean ownership? For example, Project Do Good has 10 people on their board, each with an equal vote. The first 9 were on the board because they started the organization. Rather than have a volunteer be the 10th seat, they want to sell that vote to the highest bidder. Is this legal?

Answers:
Sorry to hear it, Concerned Citizen. You've got to watch out. Sometimes they take your money and then just pass on a small percentage to another charity. Sometimes five different charities owned by the same group of people take a cut of your donation and then just pass 1% on to the Red Cross.

Whether the vote-selling is legal or not I couldn't say, but don't give them your money. People don't buy votes without expecting a return on their investment.

It sounds questionable to me. It may not be illegal, but it doesn't sound very ethical. Of course, having been robbed blind by a corrupt "non-profit organization", I tend to be skeptical of them unless they're totally open and above board in their operations.
