I know someone who is cheating the FAFSA big time can she get in trouble?

I know her very well and that her Dad raised her and he's a doctor with only two kids. The other day I was talking about not having enough to get by and she started to brag about her Dad paying for everything and getting $2500 in the pel grant. I asked her how she did it and she said she just put her mom which didn't have a job.

Is this legal?

Answers:
No, She's getting money that other students who do not have well-off families NEED if they're going to get a college education at all. You could either call the financial aid office at the school and see if they can look into the matter. I also found a phone number that is for reporting fraud -

US Department of Education's Inspector General's office (1-800-MIS-USED).

im me.i need a fast way of getting money lol
I used to go to church with a woman who told me how she was stealing medicaid and Welfare because she worked for a small company and was the only one who answered the phone so when the agency called to verify she told them what ever she wanted . . I turned her in and she had to go to jail . .
just leave them alone.. theyll get punished sooner or later.. and you telling wont make you a better person... really.
While technically it is, as she can say that she only gets money from her mother, if investigated and found that the father is the one paying the bills then yes, this is illegal and bad.

However, many people, including high school counselors recommend lying on the FAFSA form. I know one who recommended that I (having worked and been paid since I was 14) give all my money to my parents to 'hide my money' from the FAFSA people, so as to get more money. I did not, as it is a moral standpoint. If I don't need the money, I shouldn't be taking it. It should be going to someone who does need it.
Somethings are just not worth fighting, but do you really want to be friends with her?
no! Very illegal and about every other year they run an audit or a verification where you have to submit taxes. if her parents are married it will show and if there not--we'll she might actually get away with it. either way--it's wrong and illegal
She should.
