Do you legally have any rights working as a temp?
You work for a "client" THROUGH the agency...you have rights with your employer, but zilch rights with the client you are working for. Anything unlawful happens to you on the job, the temp service is not going to defend you in front of their client, but rather place you somewhere else. What rights does a temp have, if any?
Answers:
Well, you're usually protected by anti-discrimination laws (i.e. they can't stand all day using racial epithets and threatening to kill you because of your race if you don't leave), workplace safety laws (i.e. they can't put you in a radioactive warehouse just because you work for a temp agency), etc. because most of those laws don't look to whether you're actually an employee, but whether you perform the tasks of an employee in an employee/employer relationship (do they have the ability to control your work, do you come in at fixed hours, etc.).
Now, as far as breach of contract claims, unfair termination claims, etc., there you're likely out of luck, because your contract is with the temp agency.
If something happened to you, consult an employment law attorney right away. Discrimination claims have very short statutes of limitations, and most plaintiff's employment attorneys will give you a free consultation.
None, that's why they're so popular.
