Legal eagles - comments on revised UK will if possible please - last nights's answers much appreciated.?
A simpler version of the will I circulated yesterday. (London UK resident). Does this look ok?Is there any need to further mention trust or trustee if the residue is going to the executor? Neil
THIS WILL dated the day of 2007 is made by me ………of………..
1. I REVOKE all former wills
2. I APPOINT as my sole Executor and Trustee my nephew JOE BLOGGS my nephew of 1 Any Street London W1
3. I GIVE the following pecuniary legacies free of tax:-
(a) etc……….
4. THE RESIDUE of my Estate I bequeath to my Executor the afore-mentioned JOE BLOGGS my nephew of 1 Any Street London W1 absolutely
SIGNED by the above named
……………….as her last Will
in our joint presence and attested
by us jointly in her presence

My advice, use a solicitor. Or try the link.
Make sure "Joe Bloggs" doesn't witness the will, nor any of the other beneficiaries, and don't staple or paper clip anything to it.
I don't think you need to mention trusts at all, unless you want to set one up, in which case go to a solicitor. It isn't something for the amateur to play around with.
People don't seem to realise that as long as they are not setting up trusts and are just basically giving away their possessions and cash, they could write "I give everything to X", sign and date it, get two independent witnesses to sign it and it would be valid.
Anything more complicated (i.e. trusts), or for large sums of money, you should definitely get a solicitor to help. It isn't that expensive.
