Can an employer in ohio cancel health insurance before termination of employee?

I was recently laid off on July 1,2007 my health insurance was cancelled before I was laid off is that legal

Answers:
no they shouldnt have cancelled your health insurance cobra should have kicked in after you were laid off for you to have the option of paying for it out of pocket. you may qualify for medicaid go to your local welfare office and apply

If you had a contract guaranteeing health insurance, your employer violated the contract, but there are no laws in Ohio or federally that require employers to provide health insurance.
Check with your insurance carrier. Insurance is always good through the end of the month regardless if you work for the company or not. Your premiums are paid in advance so July should have been paid in June.
