What does POSS CS COCAINE actually mean?
When you search someone in the tdcj and their info. comes up, so does the charge. poss=possession? cs=controlled substance? obviously cocaine=cocaine
Just wanted a deeper explanation.
Answers:
possession of a controlled substance- cocaine.
it means that a controlled substance which is cocaine in this case was in your possession, i.e. pockets, purse, car...
- a controlled substance is any drugs i.e. cocaine, meth, vicodon, oxycotton... that carries potential for abuse or addiction.
Your thoughts are correct. I'm not sure what a deeper explanation would be. They were caught with cocaine.
Thats one way of a lesser charge, a small amount of cocaine. Like if personal use. Then for larger amounts and packaged up seperate is tent to deliver, transporting, means sales of cocaine. That charge carries much more time, up to life in prison.
POSS = the person was charges with possession, not manufacturing, or delivering (the other possible drug charges)
CS = controlled substance, this applies to most illegal narcotics, except marijuana which is in its own category
COCAINE = means the particular substance possessed. Each category contains numerous substances and variants
Missing from your question should be the penalty degree. Most in TDCJ will be felons. The amount of cocaine the person possessed will determine the penalty.
