Does the US need a heath care system like Canada's?

In Canada, employers and workers shared the cost of all residents health care. It is the largest part in the budget of the country but all Canadians are covered.

Answers:
Absolutely, I think if we had nationwide health care system, the cost would go down because we wouldn't be paying for all of those who do not have coverage.
Also, if everyone could go to the doctor as a preventative then the cost would decrease because we would not be paying for damage control (after the illness or disease gets out of control). I'm surprised we do not already have a nationwide health care system in place.

Absolutely.
yes
Yeah, and the health care sucks. It's a horse a peice. Do you want a government that wastes money studying cow farts to be in charge of your health?
NO
But many Canadians come to the US to get treatments because they would be dead if they waited their turn in line. What is wrong with this picture and why do you want the mimic a system like this. Where would Americans go when urgent treatment is needed? Mexico?
Yes!! It's nice to know you don't have to pay for a doctor's appointment or any other medical treatment. That's why are taxes are a bit higher. I hope you Americans will have this priviledge someday!!
then they hope that they never have a life threatening illness.
better have your plot purchased.
No we don't. That system is not working. Many Canadian doctors are emigrating to the US to earn a living. Where does that leave the Canadian system?
Im tired of paying a premium and a copay! What exactly is the insurance company paying? I go to the doctors once a year! It would be cheaper to just pay for the doctor but if my employer offers it i must take it. Its stupid!
Then move to Canada.
The U.S. does not. Universal health coverage would plummet the Health care industry. Most physicians go into procatice for the money. If their funds were drastically cut, which a universal health system would do, the number of emerging physicians would be cut at least in half.
The have massive problems with their health care system. 1st they don't have to work therefore creating the situation in which those who are working are not able to get in to see the doctor when they need to as EVERONE is in to see the doctor already and its a first come first serve basis. Oh yeah, don't we already have that problem?!? 2nd because only some of the residents contribute to the system they are in massive debt. This happens when you spend more than you bring in. Classic economics. Of course we also have the same problem here in the U.S. too don't we? Well hey, in that case at least everyone is covered but oh yea, see point number one above...over-crowding!
We don't want to replace one bad system with another.
I once wondered why ther are so many MRI and diognostic centers close to the Canadian border.
It s because you have to wait a long time to get an MRI in Canada. Many Canadians would rather travel to the US, lay down $2000 for the procedure. ( not exactly free medical isn't it.)
Time DOES matter when it comes to cancer.

I'm not saying the US's system does not need some adjustments, but if the stinkin' lawyers and insurance companies were not walking arm in arm together in their quest for $$$, medical care in the US would be far less expensive.
Oh hell no - this country cannot run the government I sure as heck don't want them controlling my health care!

On a side note - feel free to call me a snob or an elitist - I work hard to maintain an extremely high level of insurance on my family, and I don't think I should be penalized and made to stand in line with the slackers and the welfare cases to get my children decent health care!
No, the current system just needs to be fixed and updated some. It goes back to the arguement of why should I support other peoples welfare, I work hard just to support my family. Free health care + free money = lazy people supported by the working .
No. I wash my hands, eat right, and exercise. Raising my taxes to pay for the health care of people that smoke, eat twinkies, and are couch potatoes is just plain evil.

Here's an idea: how about people pay for the consequences of their actions and decisions themselves, and stop stealing from me? Evil bastards.

Seriously, instead of putting down the cigarettes and twinkies, your solution is theft? Nobody with more than 2 working brain cells thinks nationalized health care is a good idea. Canada is dumb.
NO. Because in Canada everyone who works is paying out their hard earned money so that people who just dont feel like working can get FREE healthcare. No one would EVER vote for that system in the US.
