The police broke the firing mechanism on my legal shotgun?
the police came into my house looking for a suspect and asked me if I owned any guns I said I did and they asked if they could see them I showed them a 22. cal rifle and a twlelve gauge shotgun they then broke the firing mechanisms off both guns and left I assume that it is not legal for them to intentionally damage my property what laws are there in regards to this violation of my rights as an american citizen

u should talk to his /her supervise and ask him/her , if the superviser does nothin then let he/she know you can and will sue. (cant afford lawer talk to the DA (district attorney))
Yes, that is illegal. If they did not have a warrant to seize your property and damage it then they are in violation of your rights.

Seems an odd thing for police to do with a suspect on the loose. Unless they thought you might shoot him. . .
It's illegal for them to do what they did, but you aren't going to get anything in court for them. So the question is, if you tell this story to the cop's boss, are they in trouble, or did they have a good enough reason to bend the rules so their boss won't take action against them?
