Will a Misdemenor Stop you from getting a job? Can U expungement it?

Just wondering how long it takes before you can expunge a misdemenor and would jobs hire with this background.

Answers:
It depends on the type of job you want and the type of misdemeanor you have.

For example, people who want to be teachers cannot these any of these types of crimes on their record:

a)crimes against children (inappropriate contact with a child, statuatory rape)
b)drug crimes (possession of marijuana)
c)crimes of moral turpitude(getting caught with a prostitute, indecent exposure)

If you want to work in a bank, any theft misdemeanor might bar you from working there.

As for getting a misdemeanor expunged, the court is not obligated to do so, but it is possible. First, you should clear your probation, stay out of trouble for about a year after the probation ends, then hire a good attorney.

But whatever you do, always report that you have a misdemeanor on a job application, and be ready to explain what happened. Just tell the truth and say you learned your lesson and you should be fine.

Most of the times a misdemeanor won't stop you from getting a job. Unless it was someting like shoplifting. Only the judge can expunge it. But it doesn't really mean anything because if the goverment ever runs a backround check it will satill show up. playa.
