Can i be susspended on a stage 3 disaplinary without ever having stage 2 or 1?

is it legal for my area manager to phone me up and ask to meet me at a local sports club ( we dont have any premises local to me ) then to ask q`s regarding my actions in a certain month then suspending me without ever telling me i was under investigation, or the reason for the meet not to mention not having a third party with us, bearing in mind i have worked for the company for six and a half years never had any problems with my cunduct never been disaplined in the past for any thing at all, my union has now advised me to resign b4 i get dismissed and i would get 7 weeks pay ?? ( this sounds like a pay of to me )

Answers:
grab your company handbook and look at the section of disciplinary action. that should explain it.

and then, grab a lawyer. it also depends on your actions, but he should speak to you about it on company property. if its not local to you, then your travel should be at the company's expense because you were unaware you were being investigated.

yes you can be suspended on a stage 3 disaplinary or final written warning.on the subject of meeting with you,you have got the right to know what the meeting is about before you attend also you have the right to take a union rep with you, dont let them tell you otherwise.thats all i can help you with sorry and i only know this from my own experience.dont let the ba*****s get you down.good luck.
Hi
I can assure you that the man has acted Illegally, First step
! The Government now demands, You must be informed in writing that he or she intends to discipline you and this my lead to dismissal. Also in the written document it must specify what you have done wrong.
also you must be given all the information the company have against you, and be given enough time to go through it be for any meeting. you have a right to hav ea Representative with you, do not be brow beaten..
You have a good case Good luck
Was this classed as gross misconduct? The company must have a policy so check the policy. Speak to ACAS on their helpline number which is on their web site. As to the advice from the Union this must be a serious offence for them to give that advice as usually they would rip this manager apart for the way he has conducted the meeting....
