Are Glock 18 legal in the U.S?
Answers:
wikpidia said no and since it is full auto I would have to agree.
Just get a Glock 23, Thats's what I own!
Yes, Police use them.
yes and no... its up to the state you're in. certain glocks are availible to the public. the Glock 18 is a miltary issue weapon, it has a burst fire feature that shoots about 3 shots in one pull of the trigger... so probably not seeing as how it would have to be stolen to make it into the hands of a civilian
In short, NO.
The Glock 18 cannot be owned by a civilian in the USA.
I doubt it. When you apply for any weapons permit you have to justify why you need it. You fill out the application and are interviewed by the police commissioner or his Representative. If the only reason you can come up with is because you think it's cool he's gonna laugh at you and turn you away.
no, federal law prohibits civilians from owning fully automatic weapons, and a 3 round burst would be considered full-auto
If you live in a state that allows you to have a Class III license and you pay the tax, you can own it.
They are junk. If you want a good handgun, buy a .45 Colt or a Browning 9mm.
If you want to protect yourself, get an AR or a good shotgun.
I think you've watched too many movies. Have you ever shot one?
short answer, yes
long answer, good luck getting one
There is a process to acquire a license and tax stamp that allows a person to own a fully automatic weapon, since this process was instituted in 1934 only a handful of homicides have been committed with _legally owned_ full auto weapons. The Hollywood shootout used illegal ones, as most crimes do.
however, there has been a de facto ban on the importation and production of new civilian full auto firearms since 1986, and while i have seen reports of civilian owned glock 18s on the internet they are considered incredibly rare
so, is it legal to own one?
yes
will you be able to find one?
not bloody likely
will you be able to afford it?
only if purchasing a new car takes "walking around money"
the prohibition on import and manufacturing has driven prices very high for full autos. for no reason, i am not heavily into the culture but i have heard Uzis go for $10,000
