What is the maximum time taken by a Supreme Court Judge to declare verdict after completion of final hearing?
If a judge is going to be retired shortly after the lapse of a considerable period from final hearing, what will happen of that case?

There is no time limit. In the past, some judges on the verge of retirement, hurried through cases and delivered judgements in bunch on the last few days. Some retired too, without completion of the task. Always, it needs the availability and cooperation of other judges, in various Division Bench, full bench and constitution bench, and special constitution benches. Many times this can not be practically ensured. The CJI assins the case to another judge who, if hearing had already been completed by the retired judge, may hear the argument of both sides briefly once more and comlete the task with the cooperation of his brother judge(s) who constituted the bench alongwith the retired one, originally.
Caseload is high and such delays are inevitable.
Whose supreme court are we talking about?
The final order & judgment taken by any court including the Supreme Court of India depends on the material on record, as each judge involved in hearing the matter has to go through the whole record in details & especially in cases in the Supreme Court which is the final court of Justice. The bench hearing any case till the final hearing makes a point to deliver the judgment of the matter before any judge of the bench is about to retire as otherwise the whole issue will have to be taken up by another bench of new judges that will further delay the matter, in such cases where any member judge of the bench is supposed to retire soon the case is decided as early as possible to avoid unnecessary further delay. The same position is in cases taken up in any High court of the country.
