In California, is the Bluetooth headset law effective yet?
Did they pass the law, where you have to use the bluetooth headset while your driving? If you dont, you get a ticket?? thanks
Answers:
Yes, yes, and no. (Or at least a very similar law anyhow.)
The California Legislature passed Senate Bill 1613 known as the California Wireless Telephone Automobile Safety Act of 2006. It was signed by the Governor on September 15, 2006 and became effective on January 1, 2007. Although the effective date is misleading because it appears that it is only operative between July 1, 2008 and July 1, 2011.
A bit vague, but appears to include in addition to the bluetooth headsets also wired handsfree headsets, speakerphone, and possibly a push-to-talk feature while driving designated vehicles. 911 calls are exempt.
*/End of Line.
No not yet. that law doesn't go into affect until july 1st of 2008
