Lawyers: What should I do to get dad help in prison?

My dad is currently in a low security prison. His health hasnt been good lately. For the past month he has been experiencing symptoms such as head burning, yellow enlarged tounge, hand/feet feel too warm, frequent bowel after eating and drinking,, cant really poop and bloatness. It all started when he fainted 4 times. He has seen the doctor and been tested. Blood test and MRI came out normal but he continues to feel the symptoms. Doctor gave him sleeping pills (he couldnt sleep..one night he could then the next he couldnt. it was like a pattern) and antibotics and they dont help much. First he thought it was all in his head but he relaxes and still doesnt feel any better. He's afraid if they continue then it's gonna threaten his health/life
I called his defense lawyer to see if there's anything he can do like contacting the prison to get him furthur treatment at an outpatient medical center. He advised me to call my dad's counselor and talk to him/her about it. :\

Answers:
i just did two years and it can get tough. sounds like he has either some prison bacterial infection or maybe he is suffering from diabetes. they don't have time to spend with most inmates. i learned a lot how to get help by using the library online. got prettty good.

You asked your fathers lawyer. He is most familiar with this situation. If he said that you need to call the counselor, why in the world have you not done it? Why would you have second thoughts?

Your dad is probably under a horrible amount of stress. He's going to have a lot of stress related problems. He needs to see the counselor anyway.
call or better go into the whatever prison city - city counsel county board of supervisors or senator or congress for fed.
have them look into it today.
Serious answer:

1) You won't find any lawyers dispensing free advice on freelawanswer.com s.

2) You already doubt what one lawyer told you, why seek out another?
instead of asking people on here, who may claim to be a lawyer (which i doubt), why don't you call others and ask for their opinion. they aren't going to charge you for just asking a question on the phone. and they will be able to give better advice than anyone on here ever could. also, by comparing what you hear from 2, 3, or more lawyers, you will be able to tell if his defense lawyer gave you the right advice. good luck hun!
I find it hard to believe his bloodwork came out normal. Have him checked for hepatitis and malaria. No, I'm not kidding. Assuming you're in the US, prisons are obligated to have prisoners treated for serious conditions; it won't necessarily be top notch care, but they can't simply let people languish. If the counselor won't follow up on this, take it to the press.

I work for the BOP . The best way for your concerns to be heard is to contact his counselor/ Unit Manager. They have the most pull. Your lawyer doesn't have much say once his in jail about his health. they do have medical staff in prison but he might need and outpatient help. If he is in the federal prison have your father fill out a request form to transfer to a mdc. Any more questions you can just email me. ill be more than happy to help.
