Is there a website where you can see state laws?

I need a website where it has a list of laws. Right now I am interested in laws involving air soft guns in Portland Oregon.

Answers:
Oregon State statute covering firearms is located at...
http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/166.html...
Section ORS 166.170 through 166.490

But this deals with actual firearms...:(

Portland codes are here.
http://www.portlandonline.com/auditor/in...

BUT, as Portland is in Multnomah County, you need to look here as well...
http://www2.co.multnomah.or.us/counsel/c...

But remember, the State of Portland Police will more than likely hassle you even if you are in complete compliance with all laws..

Try looking up the ORS chapter 166. I think firearms and weapons are covered in there.
Contact your local police department first. Airsoft "guns" are fairly new, and there may not be any laws on Oregon's books yet.

Also, you can contact your state legislature.
When I want to look at a state's laws, I do searches like this:

alabama laws
alabama statutes
alabama code
alabama legislature

Sometimes a state's official web site will have links to the laws.

There are problems with this. The first one is that the on-line laws may not be current. The second is that how the laws have been applied by the courts is not listed. The third is that local laws do not show up here.

In my city, it is against the law to fire a BB gun, but it isn't against state law. If you just looked at the state law, you wouldn't know about the city's ban on BB guns.

If a state has a ban on BB guns (like New Jersey does) it could have been found to apply to airsoft as well.

Ain't the law grand!
