If U R OK with an occaisional innocent being executed to keep the death penalty would you mind being next?
I have had people say it is ok for the occaisional innocent
person to be executed. This is a quote from someone here..
"Yes, innocent people are going to be executed. It's sad and unfortunate, but no reason to stop executions."
Sad and unfortunate.. I wonder if he would volunteer himself or his brother?
any one else agree with this statement?

Unfortunately, I am one of the few who do not believe taxpayers should be doing the very thing that some of these criminals have done- killing.
I'd rather study the criminals and learn WHY they rape and kill little children so we can isolate the gene or whatever needs to be done to stop it. Maybe some day we can erase the memories that cause the angry people to commit horrendous crimes. Find a drug, therapy, or some for sure thing that works.
Some innocent people do get convicted.
Some get set free because there is not enough room in prison.
I think that it should be a priority to have enough room and to make it a place of rehabilitation instead of a place to get angrier because of the self rightious guards and wardens that enjoy watching them suffer.
Not too different than the gladiator era.
Americans want so badly to punish they lose sight of what incarceration and rehabilitation is all about.
The sheriff in Ariz. went too far with his abuse. Pink clothing for the men and sleepiing in tents in the hot Ariz. sun. And he purposefully makes sure the food is nearly uneatable. If he were not the sheriff, he should be indicted for cruel and unusual punishment.

Stopping executions will still not stop the problem of innocent people being convicted. If you want to stop innocents from being convicted you need to start working on their cases to prove their innocence.
It's absolutely NOT alright for any innocent person to be executed. "The Innocence Project" is something I support as well as the death penalty...
Those who die under the death penalty are certainly treated much more humanely than they treated their victim(s)...
If people would just take 3 minutes before they answer any of the questions on here, we would sure see a whole new freelawanswer.com . My first thought was something totally derogatory .Then I thought of how many I would upset So this is what you get instead.
That's a terrible outlook. I vote for hard labor. That way, if someone is later proven innocent, at least he's alive and the system can pay him some kind of restitution.
Of course he wouldn't be OK with volunteering. It's only OK as long as it's happening to someone else. It's like the famous quote from WWII that goes: I was silent when they came for my neighbors, when they finally came for me there was no one left to hear me.
My government teacher had an interesting solution to the death penalty. She said they should have a lottery, and whoever is drawn has to be the executioner. They can decide whether to kill the person or to send them back to prison for life.
lock up your murderers and keep in mind that most are not caught before they kill .crime prevention and rehabilitation take a back seat in our society .
also there is a such thing as the fleeing felon act which makes it illegal for a police officer to shoot a fleeing felon except in exigent circumstances so how come after a murderer is caught and rendered innocuous society decides they should be murdered thus giving extra justification to criminals who are debating the act of murder themselves.
the death pentalty shows that we would rather wash our hands of a problem , then invest in educating ourselves to prevent the problem from happening in the first place.
You have to address the question to why people commit crimes in the first place?
there are places in the world with extremely low crime rates
you have a point, but do you realize how many innocent people have been killed by repeat offenders, that were deemed safe to return to public life? i would be willing to bet there are far fewer innocent put to death, than those killed by repeat offenders. i might add, the victims in most cases are children.
