What do you think about the Jena, LA case? The news has labeled these not-yet adults - the Jena 6.?
I heard a news commentator say that 'sources' say that if the Jena youth had taken the plea bargain, he would have spent 'only' another 5 months in jail. WHAT!!
For a person to accept a plea bargain when they are not guilty, isn't that wrong? (I know I sound niave but I'm really not - just trying to get us thinking)
Why wasn't the orignal offense (when the nooses were hung on the 'white' tree) treated as a hate crime? Aren't there some specific penalties for this type crime?
I am ashamed to say today is the first I heard about it and it's been going on for over a year. Anybody else out there like me?
There will be a 'faithful/loyal' Louisianian who will defend these actions but can't you see that isn't right?
I wonder if anyone told our president about this??
Now that you know (if you didn't), what ARE YOU going to do to help get this innocent young man out of this unfair situation. And if this isn't corrected, there are 5 others who will be on trial soon.

seems Jena is just an old fashioned southern town where black people are not treated as equals. the justice department might want to take a look.

I am not familiar with the case, but I am familiar with lazy and corrupt law enforcement and prosecutors!

PS - I have utmost respect for Law Enforcement, our Government and Laws! The police who are in their job for the right reasons and are allowed to follow reason deserve only the best...It is an unfair meting of justice that is sickening
