How do I go about appealing a court case?

I live in Michigan and my parental rights were terminated on July 27th and I only have 14 days from that date!

Answers:
First, no matter what your financial situation, you should attempt to hire a lawyer and work something out. It is unclear whether you are referring to an appeal to the same court or an appeal to the appellate court. I've attached the link to the manual for appeals for lay people appearing in propria persona and the Michigan courts page. Don't miss your deadline, which the poster above me correctly points out is today. This means you must file the paperwork and hand deliver it by the time court closes, to whichever court that is. Hopefully the order gives you the information you need.

You are almost certainly going to need to retain a lawyer.
Either get an lawyer who's on the fast track to file the paperwork and represent you..or get to hustling on the Internet to find out how to file the paperwork yourself.

Given your short deadline, I opt for the lawyer. You got 14 days to find online how to do something that carries a LOT of small demands that if overlooked, ruin your case irrepairably.

But the information IS out there and it's out there for free! Stuff the lawyers don't want you to find out..but are powerless to stop you from getting it.

If you do decide to find out how to file legal paperwork online...be prepared: it's hidden well into the muck.but it IS out there. Good Luck.
get a lawyer now and meet with him today
14 days from July 27th is today. You have to file a notice to appeal today, which should just consist of you writing out a statement saying, "This will serve as my notice of appeal in re: to the termination of my parental rights in case # 12345, heard on July WHATEVER, 2007, decided on July 27th, 2007, in front of Honorable suchandsuch." Fill in as needed, get it notarized, then go down to the Family Court (or whichever court this decision was rendered in) and file it with the Court Clerk.

Get some sort of receipt.
