Are all court cases available for public knowledge? If so, is there website or place to find this?

I have a very complicated possible court case, however, first I need to know if the estranged family of my step-father have already tried to pursue this case. Technically, they have power of attorney, although they were estranged from him for more than 20 years. I was his step-daughter and lived with him and took care of him for 15 years before his untimely death. I guess I need to know #1 If they've tried to go to court and then #2 if not, how I can get power of attorney over them. Anyone have suggestions?

Answers:
Court cases are matters of public record. However, family court cases are often sealed - whether that is the case in your state is something you should discuss with a local attorney. Similarly, some court systems use web based systems to allow public retrieval of cases, others do not.

As to "getting power of attorney over them" - the question doesn't make sense.

Bottom line: you should discuss your situation with an attorney in your area rather than seeking specific legal advice here.
