Why must I have to prove my identity to E.D.D.?
I have drawn unemployment off and on several times and now they are asking me to prove who I am .

Identity theft and that sort of thing. It's just a way to protect our tax dollars.
Well of course you will have to if they are requesting it. Why would they continue to pay benefits when they aren't for sure it is you. If you are asking a question like this, my thought is that you possibly have lied? What would be so hard about proving who you are if you are who you say you are?
Since 9/11 all government agencies are requiring more ID than before. Also the influx of illegal immigrants collecting assistance they are not legal entitled to makes it more difficult for the rest of us. If you are in fact who you claim to be then you will have no problem proving it.
they have the right to do that and you have the responsibility to prove it. with all ID theft going on, I would hope they would want proof.
