Does anyone know if it is legal to produce pornograph in the state of texas for mass production and distrib?
this question became a big topic of discussion at work. if anyone knows for sure please let me know. thanks.

It is illegal in most states to produce obscene materials for distribution. Without going into the convoluted legal test for what qualifies as obscene, a state may not restrict the distribution to adults of non-obscene materials. A state can restrict the distribution of obscene materials. Depending on the judge and the jury, some pornography qualifies as obscene, some does not.
Not many pornographs are made any more. They are pretty much obsolete since most recordings are not even made as pornograph records, just cds.

Whether or not pornography (note the proper spelling!) is legal anywhere depends on the type of pornography. Soft-core, like the Playboy-type, is no problem to make. Hard-core depends totally on community standards. You can film pretty much anything that is legal to have on video shelves, but you may not be welcome in all areas. Remember to be legal you have to abide by all zoning by-laws. Stuff like kiddie porn, snuff films, violent porn, bestiality is not legal to produce anywhere in the US or Canada.
