Is it legal for someone to get paid .50 cents an hour?

Answers:
No. It is illegal to pay someone that much( if they are an employee). If they are someone like a child selling lemonade, etc..believe it or not in some cities they HAVE to get a permit to sell that lemonade or risk being fined. What they earn per sale doesn't matter really.

its a small world.
nope
Not in this country and not if it's an "employee".
If your underage then ya but other than that no..
HA HA HA your joking right? The minimun wage is like $5.75 an hour

Not in the US! U have to get paid at least minimum wage, unless u are like a waiter or waitress or something and make tips.
Only if you're a illegal immigrant. And that is way more than you deserve.
No, no, and HELL no...the very smallest minimum you can make in the US legally is $2.65 an hour, and that's only if your income is mostly made up in tips, like if you're a waitress or a bartender.

if it's in China...Yes...
NO. A minimum wage is the lowest hourly, daily or monthly wage that employers may legally pay to employees or workers.

The first step, taking the minimum wage up to $5.85 an hour, takes effect on July 24, 2007. As a result, a new Federal Easy-Post, containing the new minimum wage posting, will begin shipping the week of July 9, 2007.
Not in this country. The Federal Minimum Wage as of 7/24 is $5.85 an hour. Some state and local laws place it higher.
D-D-D-DDUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Anyone can get paid any amount of money if they agree to the circumstances -- depending on the job. However, for businesses and such, they are required to pay employees minimum wage. Minimum wage varies from state-to-state. Here is a list of them:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_u.s...
I am pretty sure it is if they are under the age of 16.
minimum wage is like $7.10/hr, isnt it?
In a sweat shop.
not even close to minimum wage!
I believe the smallest you can make in the United States is $2.65/hr. which is mostly tipped employees in states that allow tip credit. The minimum wage laws however do not always apply to some types of small businesses. If you worked for you parents mowing your lawn, they could probably pay you $0.50/hr legally.

In the vast majority of cases, this would not be legal in the United States.
Actually, yes. Some U.S. Federal prisons will hire their prisoners to work while doing hard time..I know Arizona State Prison will pay them anywhere between 10 to 50 cents an hour and they can use the money to buy, cigarettes, magazines and soda, etc.. Just another reason why crime doesn't pay!
