Is the Death Penalty state sanctioned murder and it's supporters murderersR U OK with an innocent person dying
The innocent have been executed in this country.this is dictated by the law of averages and with DNA releasing hundreds of innocent people from Death Row after years of unjust incarceration more then mere speculation...Michigan's Constitution bans capital punishment as a direct result of an innocent man being executed in the early 1800's! The citizens of Michigan have never tolerated even the possibilty of executing an innocent person since statehood was gained.
There are now case pending wherein DNA cannot give clarity and the executions are on track even though there is overwhelming reasonable doubt that has come to light after trial...witnesses lied or police contrived to clear an onerous or tedious case. What would you do if irrefutable proof of the execution of an innocent person in your state? Would you say "NO MORE" or shrug your shoulders and say "OH WELL, those are the breaks" Gotta have that sanction!! It is keeping me safe and the only thing between us and the bad ones.

a great question, and how many people have forgotten the 47 men on death row in the 90s and a reporter started checking and got the F,B,I, involved and proved 35 of these men were not guilty , the prosecutor knew this and had cops and witnesses to lie and lied him self , his punishment was he is now States Attorney general, tough punishment,
anyone who supports capital punishment is a evil person and has no regard for any ones life except his own,
I rather have ALL murders executed. The ones that have undisputed evidence agains them. I dont want to pay taxes on these abominations. I rather have them put to death.
An eye for an eye.
I don't think anyone should be given the right to determine when another is going to die - no matter what the situation. Innocent people being executed - or with the potential to be - further justifies my reasoning.
Executions by the government after due process of law are, by definition, not murder. No one can stop you from thinking otherwise but it's inaccurate to do so.
I can honestly say that if someone killed a family member of mine, that dirt bag would never make it to trial. .300 Win Mag, 12 power scope set for 500 yds, can put a 1 inch group from 1000yds in a target. They'd never even hear the shot.
No. I think every person in jail should be allowed a DNA test free to attempt to clear their name. If the DNA proves their innocence then the should get an automatic retrial.
Also every person on trial should be allowed the same testing. This may not totally do away with innocent people in jail but it may help some of the one who were/are railroaded and the crime is molded to fit the man(Or woman)!
No, and no.
Yes, innocent people are going to be executed. It's sad and unfortunate, but no reason to stop executions.
Are you OK with innocent people being *** raped for 20 years? Does that mean we shouldn't imprison anyone?
Are you OK with innocent people being given the stigma of being a murderer? Does that mean we shouldn't even accuse anyone of anything?
I am a full supporter of the death penalty. I have researched every source I could find on the issue, and find it to be reasonable and humane. I have written 7 different multiple page essays on the topic, and have all the facts possible to support both sides. I would give facts, but I don't feel like digging up all of those papers just for information. I feel that even if one innocent life is lost among the hundreds and hundreds of guilty executed, that's ok, it was worth it to get the real monsters off of our streets. People preaching that the death penalty is wrong are the real inhumane ones. Almost as many people are raped, beaten, killed, tortured, and blackmailed by fellow inmates per year as there are executions. A living death is much more excruciating than 20 minutes to 45 minutes being given drugs and a heavy anesthesia and then dying. Even though some people say that that's the easy way out, in prison you're just as likely to get out somehow as you are to take a shower. I live in a state without the death penalty anway (Mass), so it doesn't matter.
An eye for an eye can't make the whole world blind, after your eye is gouged out the first time, a smart person would wear protective goggles, only the senseless and stubborn don't see sense.
The death penalty is wrong. Period.
I do agree with you. No one has the right to take a life. Be it the convicted alleged murderer or the designated authorities. If one is guilty then the punishment should be life without parole. It would be a punishment every waking day for the individual to realize that till the days he or she dies of natural causes. If they are executed, the punishment ends with their life no longer having to endure boredom, restlessness, anxiety, and everything else that goes with indefinite confinement. Come on you so called Christian People let's wake up and realize what you are supporting with Capital Punishment.
In the USA alone the government spends 13 million dollars on one war plane and let's not argue that it costs too much to house one human being in prison for the rest of one's life.
This is a question and issue that have left many people in confusion. As you mentioned in your statement, "innocent people who were/are on death row or doing life was eventually found innocent due to the induction of DNA science".
Yes, the death penalty is heinous, but then there are some crimes so outlandish that it may be necessary. I prefer to see a person lock down in a Super Prison for life to reflect on the crime and consequences of his actions. Where as the punishment is more rigid (physically and mentally) then (death penalty) absolute.
I live in California now, but lived my first 20 years in Michigan. As you probably know, California has the death penalty but I have never switched my thinking to approve legal murder. I know Detroit is a dangerous city...more so than when I lived there, but I still don't believe the death penalty is a deterrent. Those who commit murder are, in my opinion, insane at all different levels. Normal-thinking people don't kill! Also, those who are psycho don't expect to get caught. And, the famous attorney, Barry Scheck of the O.J. trial, has saved many innocent lives with his DNA testing! Capital punishment is barbaric and should be abolished!
Yes, maybe some innocent have been executed in our country.
But - If you are innocent - you shouldn't be a suspect.
Anyone accused of a major crime should be able to explain where they were and prove it
I with no doubt disagree with Capital punishment and the allowing of abortion. It is up to God when some one is to die, we have no right to interfere with that. If a person were to kill someone in my family " God forbid it happens" I would much rather see them suffer a great many years in prison where they are reminded of their crime every day as they suffer not having their freedom. God forgive me for reminding people of this, but God forgives all sins of us all the list of the 7 deadly sins does not state a first, second, or third degree of a sin, they are looked at as the same no matter the severity. This is my belief anyway. So as with anyone if we repent and proclaim our love for God and our heavenly brother Jesus we will all be saved in the end. This is why I would rather see a person who committed of a horrendous crime spend long days in jail intil God comes for them.
If they arent guilty of the crime they were convicted of they are guilty of one that they didnt get charged with and got away with.
I'm against the death penalty because it is not an effective way to prevent or reduce crime and because it risks executing innocent people.
