My son's father is insisting that his girlfriend take my son to this dr. apt - is that not illegal?

From what i understand there are laws against this and I don't want her there i can take him myself. From what I know she cannot even call his dr and talk about him. Am I right here aren't there laws about this?

Answer:
What are your reasons for not wanting her to do this other than she's the fathers girlfriend? If you can take the child then make the offer, there is no reason to get all Jerry springer about it and want to call in the law.

There are only laws about that if you put them into effect in court...if it's just word of mouth that you don't want her around him..there really is no reason why she can't
It's not illegal if the father is there, however, since she's not a legal guardian of the child, the doctor can not discuss medical information with her. Politely insist the either you or his father take him to his doctor's visits. Custody battles are a pain and so frustrating. I hope things work out for you. Good luck!
i think its only illegal if she takes him without the fathers consent and she should probably have something like a note from the father of the boy.
There's absolutely no good reason that your son's father's girlfriend should be allowed to take him to the doctor without you or his father being there. Unless she has legal guardianship, OR a medical release from BOTH the boys' parents, she cannot, alone.

However, if you're going to be there, why should she be there? If it's because his father is away (or working, et cetera) then the girlfriend can meet you at the doctor's office and go get her pretty nails done while you do what you have a parental right to do: be with your son alone at his medical office.

I have seen this happen with close friends and I am always shocked at what medical offices allow other parties to get away with. The only solution is to bring a written, signed statement expressing your disallowance of that woman to have any knowledge of his medical records; or to bring him to the doctor by herself.

By giving them written documentation, that office will be putting their license on the line if they stray from your wishes.

Hope this helped. Stand your ground. You're his mother and you have a say.
yes, only if the father or legal guardian isn't there. Also the doctor won't or shouldn't discuss your son's biss. out in the public. IF SHE DOES YOU CAN SUE.
