What happens if you don't pay a parking ticket?

I hear all the time in movies and T.V. shows people saying that they have unpaid parking tickets or they get a ticket and immediately say they aren't going to pay it. You know what I'm talkin about?

In addition to the first answer given, if you are ever pulled over for a violation or road block, they can find out quickly that you have outstanding tickets that you've ignored. You could be taken to jail.

Most likely they will go to jail and pay a huge fine if it isn't paid trust me you want to pay that ticket.
a failure to appear warrant is issued by the courts, and you can and will be arrested at some point after that.
Sometimes, if its just a parking violation, the fine doubles after every 10 days of not paying a parking violation, at least that's how its like in my city in the Bay Area. I'm sure at some point they probably summon you to court or something.
Its not a biggy but on a traffic stop it will show up.
And you can be booted for traffic violations.
What they do in California is if you get pulled over for any reason and have unpaid tickets, they can arrest you and hold you until you make payment. But more likely, when you try to renew your car's registration, they won't let you if you have unpaid tickets. So one or the other of these two is bound to happen sooner or later.
