Governor Matt Blunt to sign a domestic violence bill?

Can anyone tell me what this encompasses? I am a former abuse victim and the law was rather lame then. What is this bill going to do exactly? I dealt with abuse in 2004

Answer:
I'm only speculating here, but if you're a man, you're fuked. If you're a woman, you can say or do whatever you want, whenerver you want, and if the man doesn't like it he's a controlling bastard, just like the rest of us.

Hard to tell what the bill will be like, but he is not my choice of a good Governor. if i hear more about the bill i will let you know.
Once he finishes signing the important bills dealing with official state animals, there is a bill on domestic violence. It is rather lengthy with numerous provisions.

One provision of the bill allows some defendants serving life without parole for fifty years who now wish to assert a "battered spouse" defense to killing their spouse to ask for early parole consideration.

Another provision bars prosecutors from requesting a person claiming to be the victim of certain sexual offenses to take a polygraph before proceeding. (A rather useless provision -- it just means that, rather than giving the victim a chance to use a polygraph to confirm their statement, prosecutors will refuse to proceed with the case if something seems wrong in the statement.)

A third provision allows people filing for order of protection to give the circuit clerk a number at which they are to be notified about the results of service on the defendant.

Finally, there are rules designed to keep the name and address of the victims of certain crimes confidential.

For the most part, these changes are minor and procedural. To the extent that you thought the enforcement provisions on domestic violence were weak before, these provisions do not change them.
