Answer:
Yes, it's known as a "Nigerian" scam." They're fairly common at this point.
it's a scam. there's a few variations of this going around. delete it.
Lol, please don't fall for this
I received an email telling me that i had won the UK national lottery. I typed Uk national lottery into the search engine to find out that it was a scam. I also think that this email is a scam too.
you can't be seriously considering this as legit can you?
I get those all the time. They come from Kenya and are scams. The idea is to steal your identity and your money. I tag them as spam and don't even open them. Nearly everyone who has email gets those and only foolish people bite. There is one about the UK lottery you should beware of too. I have found it a good rule that if I don't know the sender it is spam and doesn't get opened. Like with snail mail, if no return address or I know it is advertising it goes straight into the recycle bin unopened.
Oh, those things slay me every time I read them. You ever look through your spam box? It's a riot!
Almost daily. Just ignore and delete. Of course it's not real in the least. Just the volume should tip you off.
It's one of the oldest scams out there and every day people still fall for it.
Whenever I get stuff like that, 95% of which is MostLikely FALSE, ...
(but everyonce in a while I find out that something is True - ie.. the MADELINE story- little girl abducted while Family was on Vacation).
... I check out the authenticity of the story at SNOPES. It's an "Urban Legend Site".
...a place to look up stories to see if they are true or not.
Peace
~Laurie
