Can being naked in front of my apartment window be considered indecent exposure?
I sometimes change or put on lotion while watching tv once I exit the shower. However, our living room has one giant window that the curtains don't quite cover. I do my best to cover myself, as I'm a rather modest person, but it is my apartment. If someone walked by and happened to glimpse me doing this could I get a charge of indecent exposure? Just curious :) Thanks for the help

It would depend on if the person can see you plainly without "trying" to see you or if he has to strain to look in. It sounds like you should get another way of covering your window or get something that can sit in front of your shower to block the view when you get out.
of course not, it's accidental. nothing at all could happen.
where do you live? =D
No, you are in your private home. Hopefully there are no laws against watching.
Stay in your apartment and you are fine
.
no. but you don't sound like a rather modest person to me!
Yes, if that person filed a complaint. There was a couple in Florida a few years back who was arrested for being naked in their own home b/c neighbors filed a complaint. (If I can find a link to the story, I'll come back and add it here.)
I'd also worry about attracting the attention of the neighborhood pervert - getting stalked/harassed/raped by a creep would be worse than getting charged with indecent exposure.
I would say no.. unless your allways standing at your window up against the glass trying to show yourself or outside of your apartment.. I think your safe
Huhhuh grapesrsexy..funny! Best to put some curtains up.
It depends on the state you're in, but you definitely cannot complain if neighbors look because there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in that case.
no cuz your trying to stay covered
i really dont think theyd care id think theyd watch most people are pervs like that
no
Are the apartments across the street looking for renters??
If I'm living across from you, then no...it's considered a good time.
nope
Yes. If your neighbor or some passerby does not like that you are exposed and in plain sight, they can notify the authorities and have you arrested.
No I mean your not doing it on purpose.
That could be an accident.
If someone where to see you and sue you for indecent exposure, you could simply say that it was an accident.
And plus, you are in the content of you own home.
You have every right to do what you do.
And if you could, go buy bigger curtains.
just to be safe.
Take Care.
If you own the property, in every state I know you can be naked there legally. Since the place belongs to you and you have the right to privacy, no police officer can arrest you.
That said, I doubt highly that any male police officer would arrest a woman for indecent exposure unless pressured into it.
Yes & No. How can you NOT shut your curtains? If you are modest, then you would either put the lotion on in the bathroom or dress enough to cover yourself. What is so important on TV that you cannot take care of after-shower duties?
It sounds as if you're a bit of an exhibitionist. It's ok, admit it.
If a minor were to watch you.. and their parent caught wind of it. you may be visited by someone. You ARE in YOUR apartment; however if you truly did not want to be seen.. you wouldn't be.
Make sure you are not flashing pre-pubescent boys and admit your fetish.
I wish you well!
as long as you have done nothing to alter the situation that would make it easy for one to see you or you expose yourself in a way that would indicate you are doing it for gratification. If that person who walks by really has to pay attention or look directly into the window, then you could actually call the police on that person.
Later don't complain you have someone stalking you at your window...
no the person viewing you , can
it not unlawfully to be naked in your own home.
It can but not in your case as explained by your self. To see you would require a person to go up to your window and try to see you. That person would be a peeping tom and could be reported to the police. With enough evidence the peeper would be charged.
I think we are gonna have to check this out close to see if it is or not, whats your address so we can come by and check it out, lol. hahahahah ahhahaha hhahhahahaha
Well, I don't really think it would be Indecent Exposure, If you are trying to cover the windows in the best of your ability then I don't think it would.
But saying you wake up every morning naked and go to the big window with it wide open for everyone to see, then that might be. But you can maybe defend your rights by saying they don't need to look in the windows...so its a toss up.
yes and no. you are in your own apartment probably doing your own buisiness knowing you arent doing anything wrong. but maybe to others, they'll think you are "flashing", or they'll understand. even if it is indecent exposure or not, keep covered as much as you can anyways.
as long as there is no reason to believe you intend to be seen, I think an indecent exposure charge is unlikely
And the person looking in would be charged with a "peeping tom " ??
First, you don’t sound too modest to me because if you were you’d put some clothes on before you walk in front a window that you know isn’t covered.
But to answer your question, it *might* depend on how the laws are written in your state, but the fact that it’s private property does not necessarily mean it wouldn’t be considered indecent exposure if you are ‘within public view’. For example, you can’t walk around naked in your front yard (even though it’s your private property) because it’s within public view. So, if others can *easily* see through the window--for example, from their own property or the street--then it’s an issue.
Frankly, if you lived next door to me and this occurred more than once (because the first time might be an accident), I’d be calling the police, because I have kids and I don’t want them to be treated to peek shows.
