Jury Duty, too late to say I can't go?

It's now the night before (a monday) I'm supposed to show up for Jury Duty at 8AM. The phones are only open from Mon-Fri 9am-4:30pm. I live over an hour away and in a different county, I should be disqualified for living in a different county, but I can't tell anyone that because I can't get in touch with anyone. Should I drive all the way there or should I not go and call at 9am to let them know?

Answers:
Since you have failed up to this point to contact them, you had better go. You can get in trouble for skipping out on jury duty even if you have a good reason. Since you live in a different county, you will probably get released.

You may be working a federal jury. I did and some folks came as far as 100 miles away.
I would show up anyway. They made a mistake by sending it to you when you were in another county anyway, but I, personally, wouldn't risk going to jail or being held in contempt for ducking jury duty without getting in touch with someone.
you can actually get arrested for not reporting for jury duty. You most likely can get fined and be on your way though. You already signed up for jury duty--you have to go. you should of claimed hardship when they sent you notice. It is your fault.
Most jury duty summonses have a checklist on the back that you can fill in and mail to the courthouse explaining why you are not qualified to serve. You may need to have it notarized, but if you do that tomorrow and mail it, there shouldn't be a problem. If there is not a form, just wait till the office opens and call and ask them what the procedure is. I don't think they can charge you when you truly don't qualify.
