What is the legal age to move out?
What is the legal age to move out of my parents house in Washington state?
Answers:
Legally it's 18 though you can be emancipated at 16.
My advice is to stay in your parents house as long as you can. It's a hard, cruel world out there.
16
18
As far as I know it is 17 everywhere
im pretty sure its 18 or graduation from high school, whichever comes first
The legal age in Canada is 16, but all you have to do is ask the government or the police about it and just say that you are just wondering.
whenever you get a job and support your self!
18
I'd say the age of 18 depending on your financial needs. But if you're having problems at home and you want to move out, talk to friends or counselors.
around 16 to 18
I believe its 16 if your parents know where you are. Otherwise its 18. That's when I booked it outta there!!
As long as you're legally emancipated you can move out before 18. If not, you have to stay with a guardian until you're 18.
If you're a ward of the state and in foster care, they can technically have claim on you until you're 21 if you it appears you can't care for yourself.
i moved out at 15
If you want to go through the process of emancipation it is 16 - otherwise you have to be 18
It's 18 unless you file to emancipate yourself before the age of 18. Just make sure you can afford your apartment, food, clothes, gas & electric, cell phone and car payments then you can move out whenever you please.
Many will say 16 or 17, but this is simply not true. 17, and sometimes 16, is just the age that in most places the police will no longer force a minor to return home against their will. (but some places will).
18 is the legal age of independence in all states. This is when your parents are no longer financially or legally responsible for you or your actions. If you wish to move sooner, without parental consent, you must get an attorney and petition the court to emancipate you from your parents. This action would make you a legal adult.

my mom kicked me out when i was 14. i have been pretty much on my own since then. but i think that the legal age you can decide to move out is 16 if you go to court and divorce your parents.
This question comes up all the time on this site, from disgruntled teenagers looking to get out from under their parents' control.
Unless you are "emancipated", your parents are legally responsible for you, in all states of the union, until you are 18 years old and therefore they have the right to determine where you will live and how you will live.
Unless you are "emancipated", you cannot sign an enforceable contract, so it is hard to find a place to live, or buy a car, without your parents also signing for you.
To be "emancipated", you need to petition the court and prove that you really can take care of yourself, all by yourself, without anyone's help.
If you can't do that, you have to stick it out like the bazillions of teenagers before you.
Eighteen. You have to be legal. You can leave but they can call the police and get you back unless you can prove abuse. Or emancipate yourself.
