1 Child Sex Offender too many in My Neighborhood!?

I live in a very small village(pop. 8,000)in WI. I recently discovered something very shocking, There are 14 child sex offenders living in our zip code. 11 of them live within 1,000 ft from the HS MS and ES. 3 of them live directly acroos the street from the ES! 1of them lives in an apt right in the backyard of a commercial daycare center. 1 of them just got paroled in 3/07, lives .2 mi. from the MS and is ordered not to have direct or inderct contact with juvenile females? Not to mention his original charges included Child Enticement!...Please understand t definition of Child Enticement...and yes, .2 mi. from the MS, in a residentail neighbrhood. Keep in mind our "town " is small enough for a large % of our children to be able to walk to school. Other states have laws, I was told "they " have tried to pass one 2x with no luck. Im confused. Im mad. Are people really that blind?..I want to do something about this. Any Advice?

Someways I agree with you BUT these people do have a right to live!

I know that sucks but honestly they have to live SOMEWHERE. It sounds like you just need to move because it sounds like your problem isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

-Have your children walk in groups
-Drive them to school yourself
-Move to another neighborhood
boy am i with you on this one! i discovered recently that i have one two doors down from me in my apt complex where there are children! He is a convicted child molester of a child under the age of 14.

i called the police and asked what we could do...can we hold meetings to let people know, can we post flyers etc.
UNBELIEVABLE----the police said that if we pass out flyers warning the community or hold meetings 'about him' etc...he can bring a harrassment lawsuit against us (and he will win!)

i want them all gone..this is disgusting to me...by the way i live in San Diego ---CA...so not much different here...it seems that they have more rights than our children!

good luck...i will pray for you. :)
After someone has served their sentence, you can only do so much to control them. It is unamerican to kick people out of your city after they have paid their debt to society. There has to be a balance of safeguards and still allow for freedoms guaranteed by their rights. It sounds like your town is small enough it is almost impossible for them not to live close to schools. The best thing you can do is increase sentences, increase treatments, increase awareness, increase police presence, and restrict them as much as you can without taking away all their rights. Other then that, you have to realize there are bad people in the world.
I am a sane person and if anyone touched my child I swear I would kill him >
Teach the children how to defend them selves.

I think if people want to squirt out kids in this day in age.

It's unfair to expect the world to comply with that. Aside form teaching them morals and knowledge.

You need to teach them how to gaurd them selves.

Even little Suzi can take out and eye if she is trained to.
Duh... Even those people have to live somewhere, and it can be real hard to find a place that is suitably far from all areas with concentrations of kids.

Unless you can get a law to have molester ghetto built or to make sex offences against children punishable by summary execution and lynch mobs, just live and let live.

At least, in that tiny hole you are living in, it will be easy to know who those guys are and to keep tabs on them to prevent any trouble from happening.
i have the same problem where i live.
Society should keep a watch on them...probably for life.

But if they have paid their initial debt and doing what they are supposed to, they have a right to live where they please unbothered.
Those websites were put in place for parents like you to be aware of who lives nearby that might be dangerous, and I'm glad that you're taking advantage of it. More parents need to do the research for their own neighborhoods and teach their children to be safe.
That being said, people who have served their sentences need to live somewhere. They can't be kept in prison or jail indefintely for what they might do, but at the same time, the communities they live in need to be aware ... again, that's what those websites are for. It's scary sometimes, but at least you have the tools to protect your kids.
Only 14?
Wow you should consider yourself lucky!
I ran a check to see how many were living in the area we just moved from zip code 95128 and came up with 73 registered sex offenders living within my immediate area.
And those are only the ones who have been registered.
There are those who fail to register or they just haven't been caught yet.
I think if you want to do something about it you could have a petition signed obtaining as many signatures as possible and then submit it to city hall and they will tell you where to go from there.
I don't really know what to do but call your city hall and find out.

The ones who prey upon children are usually easy to spot though if you know what to look for.
They like to hang out in areas where there's children such as parks, churches, pools, camp grounds, day care, schools, boy scouts, girl scouts etc.
And they are usually very friendly to the point of being too friendly.
They're favorite kids to prey upon are those who come from broken homes especially those where the father is absent.
They like kids who have been abused or neglected because they usually have low self esteem and not very confident and usually they don't have anyone to turn to for help when something does happen to them.
You have to watch out for Counselors because they are in a position of trust and have easy access to kids who are already experiencing problems and might not be believed when they come forward with information on abuse which took place between them and their counselor.

When I was 16 years old I put myself in a children's shelter to get away from my pervert step father.
One night while all the girls were taking their showers I was waiting for them to finish so I could take my shower in private.
Across from my room a girl whose name was 'Sylvia' stayed and she was known for having a bad attitude and a big mouth.
Well I was about to leave to go take my shower when I saw a male counsel enter Sylvia's room and he began to attack her trying to rape her.
She fought like a wild cat and went crazy fighting him off then a female Counselor entered the room and attempted to restrain Sylvia so the other one could rape her.
Sylvia broke the female Counselor's wrist so the had to stop because she was putting up too much of a fight.
They called the police and had them arrest Sylvia and placed her in Juvenile Hall claiming that she was out of control and attacking them.
Sylvia tried to tell what really happened but no one would listen to her.
There was also another Counselor who worked alone on the night shift and was a devout Lesbian and would sexually harass all of her favorite girls.

I went to the Administrator of the Children's Shelter and told her about what was going on with the abuse and sexual harassment.
And because I had no previous record of being a trouble maker and made straight A's in School she believed me.
She considered me to be a credible source and soon after that all three Counselors were replaced with ones who were safe to be around.
People who prey upon children are everywhere and it's really not the ones who are registered you have to watch out for it's the ones who aren't.
We know who the registered ones are and we need to keep them away from out children but then you really need to be on the look out for everyone else too.

Especially those you trust the most.
