Driver license?
I'm 17 and a half. How do I get a license? And if I wait until I'm 18, do I still need to get a permit first? I live in Colorado if that matters!

In Colorado, you have to have a permit for 12 months to the day if you are under 18. Once you turn 18, you can get your license whenever you want, just take the test.
not 100% for your state but in ohio the only difference between 17 and 18 is not needing your parents permission and not needing drivers ed.

once you're 18 you can just take the driving test without needing to have a permit first.
right now you would probably be better of waiting.
because in order to get your permit you have to take a drivers ed class & then you need to take your permit test.
& you have to have your permit for 6 months before you can get your license.
atleast that's how it is where i live.

I'd ride with friends for that 6 months if I were you:) Save up some money for a car if you don't have one already, because by the time you take driver's course, etc. and take your driver's license exam- you'll be even closer to 18!
It depends if you feel like waiting the extra few months or not!!
But you've made it this far.
I'd start studying the driver's book and practicing road test on a backroad with your parents so you'll be ready for the actual license test.
But in the state of Colorado, you need a permit for a year if you are under 18, but once you are 18, you may go take the test and get your license:)
