Before you consult with a lawyer you should consult with a doctor whose opinion you trust to find out if their care actually has been substandard. The doctor will be able to read the charts and examine her and determine whether something actually is wrong with the care.
One example of a situation that may seem like a problem that actually isn't: you say they feed her when she is asleep, and you appear to believe this means they feed her by mouth. That is most likely not the way they do it - far more likely they give her an IV with nutrients.
Nonetheless, you should do what you need to do to get answers - and if those answers are either not forthcoming or if there seems something wrong in their care, you should consult an attorney in your area who is familiar with elder law.
There may be some organizations and/or government agencies which provide these services at reduced or no cost. Your church, if you have one, would be a place to ask.
here we are a nation of christians and i cant believe the aged are treated like this! it disgusts me
Go to this site: http://www.elderabusecenter.org/default.
Scroll down to "Where To Report". There are links to state hotlines, directories of state and regional ombudsmen and adult protection agencies, and fact sheets.
First of all, you probably need to remove your husband's mother from this place, if you report then it's unlikely that the treatment will get better right away. Then google where/how to report elder abuse, and get yourself a good pro bono lawyer
You need to go to an attorney immediately. Most will give you a consultation for FREE. Go talk to one ASAP. This is not the place for legal advice, sorry.
