I would like to know from someone who is opposed to marijuana why they believe that?
i would appreciate facts not opinions

I'm not opposed to the plant, itself; hemp was (and could be again) one of the most useful crops ever grown in our country's history. But recreational consumption should at the very least be restricted as strictly as alcohol (i.e. none to minors, and regulated sales beyond that).
It isn't inherently evil, but it is habit forming, and it's certainly not harmless.

Whoever oppose Cannabis is just for one reason: Ignorance.

Marijuana is the Gateway to stronger drugs. i don't want someone smoking it to get into a car and kill the same way Drunks do. We do not need another drug.Gheesh,I cannot smoke a cigarette why Marijuana.
I think if it's going to be around the Govt will have to have a hand in it to get it's share of the profit.
In general I think any mind altering drug is unnecessary. Once in a great while, like having some drinks as adults maybe, but if it's illegal that would be taking a chance.
If it was legal what would stop people from going to work 'high' and screwing up? I admit this world has problems that are upsetting but becoming dependent of a drug is not the answer and won't help the situation. The govt introduced LSD in the 60's, did you know that? Look it up. What a business.

But -
It does contain tar - and so it does have health factors that are associated with cig's - One joint is = to a half pack or somthing like that
For a % of the population it is pscholgically addictive -not phisical mentally
In men in a really small % with chronic use it cancause feminzation of the features -
It does cause short term memory loss and several agencies are argueing over the idea that it is or is not long term
With all of that - it isn't as bad as what chronic use of alcohol will do to you -
It does not lend itself to crime and or other anti social problems - in that it's use does not promite violence and it's "wothdrawl" from the drug does not cause violence
It has been seen as a gateway drug -One Canadian Senator is in the middle of determining what he thinks on that matter -Report yet to be released (completed)
Is it good for you ? ----Not really
Is it bad for you - -- yes a little -
Is it as bad for you as the other legal things "we" consume - ? No way not even close
Same reason why other depressants are illegal. They cause damage to the body, both long term and short term.

Marijuana is a hallucingen. Much the same as acid, actually. Not to mention the risk of getting cancer is actually something like five times worse than cigarettes.
The guy above stated something about men becoming femine. Which isn't exactly true. It's just that the sperm count gets really low after extended use, and also causes impotence. As for females, it actually takes away fertitlity rate too. I never knew that before, but I'm taking a college psychology course and just read that the other day.
Those are my facts. And whether you wanted an opinion or not, I feel that the majority of pot smokers are really disgusting. Perhaps it's just where I'm from, but when you see people smoking cigarettes,they don't look like they slept in a dumpster the night before. It would really make the world uglier.
I am opposed to marijuana because the stuff stinks like hell, therefore I do not use it.
But you should be free to do with it as you wish.
