Do you think Blackwater should be taking over security for government agencies in Iraq and charging much?

Fact: Blackwater protects/secures the embassy in iraq and members of the american led coalition provisional authority. They charge the US government thousands per day per soldier.

Do you think that amount is too much? and are there any conflicts of interest or compromising of us intelligence and security?

Answers:
Because we now have an all volunteer military, the government doesn't have nearly enough manpower to do everything that needs to be done. To fill the gap, they are relying heavily on outside contractors to provide security, perform logistics, and do dozens of other things that might have been done by military personnel in previous wars.

You can argue as to whether the pay is too much, but its hard to get qualified people to want to work in a dangerous place unless you pay them very well. There have been many contractor casualties in this war and security personnel in particular are a target. As someone once said: "the pay may be good, but what does it cost to get your head sewed back on?"

I think when you have contractors being paid to do government work there is always an inherent conflict of interest. What's best for the contractor is not always what's best for the government. I think that intelligence and security risks of using contractors are minimal provided that adequate background screening is done.
