Why are in laws called "rents"?

Umm.. who calls them "rents" ? I DON'T. i call them Satan and Luicifer.
This isn't a reference to in-laws, but is actually a reference to "parents".
i have never heard that towards an in-law.
Its used to shorten "parents" ...
