Is it true that in IL, NY, NJ and other states, you don't have the right to defend yourself?

Answers:
Against what?

If you are going to ask a question and expect answers, you probably should learn how to ask a question.

no i live in NY and thats false, even if you kill someone if it is in self defense there is no crime
I'm assuming you mean in court, correct? Like, as a lawyer? If that is what you are asking then what you say is 100% false. I have defended myself on many occasions especially in traffic court and I have no legal experience at all.

If you mean if someone throws a punch can you punch back? Yes you can but you need to prove who threw the first punch or else its his word against yours.

Hope I helped.
Where did you hear that from?
I live in NY and I've never heard that.
No. You can always represent yourself. It's really stupid to do that, but it's legal.
