UK laws on knifes being sent through the post?
I've bought my dad a knife hes been wanting off the internet recently but am conserned it will be intercepted by police or legal services or something? anyone know what will happen?

At the moment it is legal to buy knives online. As long as you are at least 16 years of age (soon to be raised to 18 yrs), it is acceptable.
Incidentally, the TSI are urging the Home Office as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Bill, to ban the sale and purchase of knives on the internet.

if you're worried arrange a courier to bring it.
Your only worry is the the Royal Mail may well lose the parcel

AS Long as you make sure that you package the knife so that the postal staff cant hurt themselves or it cause damage enroute, your ok.
A friend of mine buys all sorts of blades on-line including swords.

UK is getting a little strange about pointy things like that.
As far as I understand it, you can keep what you like at home by way of knives and other bladed instruments as long as you are not caught carrying them in a public place. I don't see what grounds anyone could have for intercepting the parcel. Even if your dad ended up having to go to the post office to pick up the parcel, he should be all right, as he would have what the Criminal Justice Act 1988 "any other good reason" for carrying it with him.
