Traffic Ticket in California?

My friend was caught for supposedly not coming to a full stop on an empty street at 5:30 am... and a cop pulled him over. He says that he did come to a complete stop. Does anyone have advice for my friend to argue back in court? please help.

Answers:
Just go in and tell the truth. In California I have fought 3 traffic tickets and for two of them the cops didn't even show up and then it was thrown out.

There really isn't a way to prove that he did stop, but it never hurts to try.

he was in california...doing the famous california rolling stop. Thats what we are SUPPOSED to do in california.:)

wow! lots of good info on this page!

The same thing happened to me. He caught up with me about a mile down the road. How am I supposed to remember?

The only thing that might work if you can demonstrate that the cop was in a place that he couldn't see if your friend did actually stop. It is probably hopeless in these sorts of cases unless the cop doesn't show up. He will probably need to go to traffic school to reduce the potential impact. The fine is really high so he might want to fight it just for the education.
I got a ticket for this once, and I just kept insisting that I came to a complete stop. I said the officer was mistaken. And then I added that I came to a complete stop and THEN started rolling forward so I could see around a bush at the corner and maybe that's when the officer saw me. I actually got the ticket dismissed.
