They might try making a false I.D. and opening up some bank accounts in your name, so they can pass a bunch of worthless checks. If they get stopped or arrested they might try using your name. Then when the arrest or ticket goes to warrant you'll find out the hard way. I know this is not what you want hear, but there is little or nothing you can do to prevent this from happening. Make sure you report it to the authorities if you have not already done so. It may be possible to change your drivers license number, but in some states your stuck with that number for life. Retain a lawyer if you can afford to do so. If not check out http://prepaidlegal.com
OH one more thing. I don't want to scare you too badly, but if they have your drivers license info they probably know where you live, be on the look out for any strange characters hanging out in your neighborhood. Make sure your doors and windows, are locked, and ask your neighbors to keep an eye out for you when your away.

Only if they have contacts in the Dept of Motor Vehicles or local Police. They are the only ones that can get the information from your plates to do anything with. However, they may have your address off your drivers license. Beware. My friend, you learned a lesson by not leaving valuables in plain sight in your vehicle. Thieves will take ANYTHING that isnt nailed down and a little piece of glass isnt going to stop them from taking your stuff.
I would o down and talk to them at the DMV, your driver's license is connected to allot of information on you.
Did you know they can take the vin number off your car and send in for a lost title and when it comes in sign the title over to someone else and steal your car and you can't do anything about it.
If your ID or license was stolen, report it immediately, and get a new one. Then keep track of everything that seems a little fishy.

The same thing happened to me, except I lost mine on the beach, and someone used it and got several tickets for speeding and running a red light, and even showed it to another motorist when she got into an accident. I didn't know about any of it -- I assumed my ID had been swallowed by the ocean -- until I got a letter from an insurance company asking me about an accident. I had my car impounded because of all of the tickets this woman got using my ID, it cost me thousands of dollars and it took me years to get it all straightened out.

Trust me, there's a lot someone can do if they want to. For your sake, I hope it was just some teenager who will use it to get into a club or something.
