Wouldn't it be nice ot go to the store an no exactly how much things cost?

Upfront with all taxes and stupid hidden fees included. Buy a car without negotiations. To go and know exactly how much it will cost. No hidden "doc" fees or "gap" fees (like Terry Holmes Hyndai in Warner Robins, GA recently tried to pull on me). Or how about ordering phone or internet service for their advertised price only to get a bill for twice that ($215 after all the hidden connection shipping and modem fees.). Isn't it time we make a law requiring all fees to be included in the advertisements? Wouldn't it be nice to know exactly what your getting for exactly how much you pay?

Answers:
Which is why, if you really care, you need to ASK for a breakdown of all costs and fees, including taxes. I never buy a car unless they can show me the "out the door" price.

It would be nice if there was a law that required this information up-front. However, in some cases, it's not that simple. Taxes and certain fees depend on other things and therefore cannot simply be "posted."

Ask. If they refuse, then take your business elsewhere.

they usually are in the fine print at the bottom of the screen or page that noone can even read without superman vision.
You can get cars and phone service at the store?
The only thing I know of here in New York that may legally be sold with tax included is motor fuel.

Motor vehicle extras are ridiculous, I know. I pay for the vehicle. I pay the sales tax on it. Then the dealer wants me to pay them to drive two blocks and get new plates for it. Then the State wants $50 for a title fee. Don't forget preparation and transportation fees, either. The only things worse that motor vehicles that way are utilities. A co-worker made one long-distance call from his home that was billed for 54 cents. With taxes and access charges and all the rest, the total bill for it was almost 20 dollars.
